Antique Peephole Panel
It doesn’t get much more spooky than this. Pictured above is an antique slate peephole panel listed for sale by Source Vintage Antique in England.
According to the seller, this ultra-curious peephole panel was discovered hidden behind a painting mounted on the wall of the Wood Hall Estate Monastery in Yorkshire, England. The estate where this peephole panel was found can be traced back to the 11th Century, and the family who owned it was also Catholic.
The seller notes that during the period of Catholic persecution, Catholic houses across the UK often had priest holes built into them, which were hiding places for priests to remain concealed if needed. Whether this peephole panel was part of a priest hole remains unknown. Read the full story on this mysterious piece and other unique antiques from the collector through the link below.
