Deer skulls have been utilized as headdresses for thousands of years, some dating back 11,000 years as uncovered during a 2013 excavation and attributed to shamanic rituals. Parts of the skull were used extensively by Native Americans, made into tools, weapons, and ceremonial objects. More recently in the 1930s, American artist Georgia O’Keeffe famously utilized multiple types of animal skulls as subjects in her still-life paintings.

Today deer skulls are interwoven into the home decor space with some pretty fascinating options out there utilizing both replica and authentic deer skulls. Artists are using everything from Swarovski crystals to flowers and hydro-dipped techniques to make for some interesting deek skull art pieces worthy of collection.
