Weird Chewing Gum Creations

CHEWING GUM ART AND OTHER CREATIONS

We know, we know - you already had your calendars marked for this: National Chewing Gum Day!

Celebrated on September 30th, this curious holiday honors the long history of chewing gum which now dates back 5,000 years thanks to a British archeology student who discovered some in Finland made of bark tar.

Mmmm. You know that must’ve been delish.

We’ve come a long way since then with thousands of different variations and flavors that range from traditional bubble-gummy or pepper-minty to rainbow ice flavored or creamy banana.

But that’s just gum being plain old normal.

The more curious applications are conjured by artists from around the world chewing up new ideas for how to use it. Many creators are transforming these sticky little gobs into art or fun little everyday items such as the Chewed Gum Bookmark by This is Michies Shop, pictured above. Actually, many of the items featured here are from their shop, but be sure to check out the full collection of curious items from each artist as their offerings get pretty fun and strange.
